Coca Cola: An iconic drink
Coca-Cola is a carbonated and refreshing drink, created in 1886 by the American pharmacist John Pemberton, who was known for his experiments in the preparation of medicines and tonics that he carried out in his pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. A Civil War veteran, he was injured during the conflict and became addicted to morphine, which led him to seek a safer alternative to relieve his pain through the use of medicinal plants until he came up with the formula that is still used today. Initially, Coca Cola was marketed as a medicinal tonic that could cure various health problems, such as fatigue and headaches, and was considered a refreshing and invigorating drink that sold for 5 cents a glass and became a commercial success.
